Story: Anomaly

Discovery is sent to investigate the anomaly that caused the destruction of Book's home planet in the season opener. Once there Book's ship is sent into the anomaly with Book at the helm, despite his grief. Stamets is sent along as a hologram to scan for data on the space phenomenon. The episode doesn't really have much else going on, as it is really about Book's grief.
They try other character stuff. They are contemplating putting Grey into a robot body to make them more corporeal (I don't really care), Saru returns and offers to be Burnham's new first officer (glad to have the best character back, even if I feel he should be the captain still), Tilly is struggling with something and seems like she wants to leave or something, and Stamets is struggling to relate to Book because apparently he is jealous that Book saved his family? I don't really get that one.
Anyhow, the anomaly is crazy and causes lots of hiccups, but eventually the big news they discover is that it doesn't seem to have a set path they can predict...it turned and went another way...so it could go anywhere without warning. Oh boy.
