Story: The Girl Who Made the Stars
Written By: Brandon Schultz
Series: Star Trek: Short Treks
Year: 2019
A young Michael Burnham is too afraid to go to sleep on the space station in the middle of nowhere she is currently on with her parents. To help her go to bed her dad tells her a story about a similar young girl in ancient Africa who meets a being that gives her people the stars, and frees them from the fear of the Night Beast.
It's fine I guess. Not insulting, but I was pretty bored for the whole 7 minutes of the thing. It wasn't really Star Trek, other than the wraparound setting. It wasn't really a bit of mystical African folklore either. It's just this boring story that ultimately means nothing to the franchise, and barely gives us any insight into Burnham as a character. So...pointless.
At least "Ephraim and Dot" was kind of fun.
