The Fate of Yvette Picard

Story: Hide and Seek
Written By: Matt Okumura & Chris Derrick
Series: Star Trek: Picard
Year: 2022

The crew reassemble at the Chateau outside the ship and find the Jurati Queen is not only already there but has created new Borg as well.  The Borg are being lead by Adam Soong (which makes no sense, why wouldn't the queen assimilate him as well?) as they try to chase the team through the depths of the chateau, where Picard uncovers along repressed memory.
Jurati holds the Queen's scheme back by locking her out of the ship by creating a keycode that she didn't memorize.  And to prove how smart she is, she brings out the hologram the key is locked in, a hologram of Elnor.  Now if I were trying to outsmart the Queen, and I created a complex passcode and didn't remember it, but saved it locked away in a hologram, what I wouldn't do is bring the hologram out to play.  I'd not tell her where I hid it.  But Jurati is sort of a dummy so whatever.  Hologram Elnor then gets to do his favorite thing, slice people with a sword.

Raffi and Seven get to the ship and seem to regain some control, but Seven is attacked and nearly murdered by Jurati Queen.  Jurati seems to stop the queen going further because of sadness.  She then convinces the Queen to make a happier Borg and save Seven, and Seven is returned to her old Borg-lite state.  Oh...Rios is in this show too, he is shot early on and sent to Talin's apartment, where he is trapped unable to help his friends until he can hack the system and get back conveniently at the exact moment he is needed to help fight off bad guys.

We learn that the past Picard has so long repressed is that his mother hung herself dressed like a Victorian lady.  I call bullshit on this, it just seems so antithetical to the Star Trek universe I love.  People had moved beyond, mental illness had been tackled and they were beyond fathers locking mothers in rooms...so this is just not Star Trek to me. It's just generic drama, that has nothing to do with Picard. Nothing to do with this universe.  This just feels phony.

Ultimately, Queen Jurati takes off in La Sirena and the team is now stranded in the past, but must still go stop Soong from stopping the Europa Mission from going off properly, despite an unhelpful cryptic message from the Queen that says there must be two Renées.
