This is one of the stronger episodes of the third season. It tests the strengths of both Spock and McCoy when Kirk is presumed killed in an accident. The episode is pretty strong, especially for this season. The Tholians are a really cool and unique race. I wish there were more stories about them.
It is definitely a highlight of this season, maybe even of the whole show.
