Deadly Illusions

Story: Once Upon a Planet
Written By: Chuck Menville and Len Janson
Series: Star Trek: The Animated Series
Year: 1973

A decent idea with some good scenes…overall bad execution. This episode serves as a sequel to the TOS episode “Shore Leave”. They return to that planet for some R&R…but now this planet is deadly and trying to kill them, for mysterious reasons.
This is all good, but WAY too many scenes feature the character explaining the plot of “Shore Leave.” In the beginning I didn’t mind, I can see why they have some bad dialogue to just explain what is going on NOW…but it goes on way too long.

I’d like to take this moment to talk about TAS’s two other recurring crew members, Arex and M’Ress. Arex is kinda weird but he works in a way, I like him. M’Ress is just creepy. The cat person thing is all right, but the PURRING is way too much.
