There are very few episodes of the original series that give you a whole lot of the background…the mythology of Star Trek if you will. This one gives us a little more on the way the Federation works, introduces both Andorians and Tellarites, and we meet Spock’s parents.
The episode is pretty good and interesting. It has a lot to offer and I think it is definitely one of the better episodes of the series. The espionage, the mystery, and murder; what is not to love? Spock’s strained relationship with his father is also well executed. I like Sarek.
