I love "Arena". It’s one of my favorites for some reason. Maybe it is the classic use of the oft-used Valdez Rocks. Maybe it’s the terrible looking lizard costume. Maybe it’s the story, which is actually pretty good…but to me "Arena" IS Classic Trek.
Whatever the reason, Kirk being forced to battle a Gorn Captain on an alien world with nothing but the clothes on his back pleases me to no end. The fights a lame, the lizard looks terrible, the story is actually interesting. Classic Star Trek.
