Story: The Return of the Archons

Series: Star Trek: The Original Series
Year: 1967
"The Return of the Archons" is almost like a Twilight Zone episode. The crew of the Enterprise investigate a strange world in which people participate in a festival at the stroke of a clock…in which the shout and ravage and cause destruction. Then the clock strikes again and the festival ends and people return to normal. It is the will of Landru.
Landru turns out to be some computer who has gained control of the people in the world…or village. Its not the best episode of the season, and it isn’t the best “computer/machine gone mad” kind of tale in Trek. I’d say it is average at best.
