Story: This Side of Paradise
Written By: D.C. Fontana
Series: Star Trek: The Original Series
Year: 1967
The Enterprise is investigating an Earth Colony in which all of the people have died due to some kind of radiation. Oddly, they find the colonists alive and well, and McCoy can’t even find a blip in their health. Everyone is in perfect condition.
Also on the planet is a botanist who once attempted a relationship with Spock. He of course gave her no emotion, thus ending the relationship. But on this planet there are odd things at work, flowers shooting spores that can break down Spock’s unemotional state.
It is kinda goofy seeing happy lovesick Spock, but the episode has enough to offer to counter that. It’s an average episode. As average goes, it is higher on the list of average, closer to good than bad.
