Worf was never expecting to be a father. He met his son when he was already born, and soon after his mother was killed. Worf wasn’t ready to be a father…and he sent the kid to live with the only people he knew that could raise a Klingon boy with the values he has…his human parents.
But they are getting older, and they can’t keep up with a Klingon kid anymore…so they tell Worf to man up and take care of his son. The episode is a decent look at Worf; it is sort of the epilogue to what “Redemption” wrapped up. Alexander is sort of the loose thread in the whole Worf arc until now.
The kid is clearly messed up…he lies and steals. It is sort of a normal reaction for a child who loses a parent only to be sent away by the father he has barely met.
So it is a decent episode, not great but good.
