Story: Reunion
Written By: Thomas Perry & Jo Perry and Ronald D. Moore & Brannon Braga
Series: Star Trek: The Next Generation
Year: 1990
This is another great Klingon tale from TNG. It’s story serves as a sequel to two previously unrelated stories (unrelated beyond Worf of course). The first is “The Emissary” which introduces us to K'Ehleyr, who does the Klingon Nasty with Worf in that episode. The other is “Sins of the Father” which introduced Worf’s discommendation, and to Duras and some members of the council.
This episode introduces two new important characters. The first is Gowron, who would eventually become the Chancellor of the high Council and play a big role in future TNG and DS9 episodes. The other is Alexander, the son of Worf and K'Ehleyr. Alexander would later have recurring role in the show and appear a few times on DS9.
K'Ehleyr is killed by Duras in this episode, and Worf kills Duras in revenge. It is pretty awesome. Another death in this episode is K'mpec, who appoints Picard as arbiter of the Chancellor of the High Council.
The great thing is this episode is not only exciting and well written and serves continuity well…it also creates a lot of set up for the finale of the season. Great episode.
