Story: The Offspring

Tremendous. Emotional. This episode is one of the best pieces of drama in the franchise. Data has secretly working on a project for some time. His own attempts at creating a Soong type android. His results create what he refers to as his child, Lal. Lal chooses its own body, one that resembles a human female.
Starfleet doesn’t like the idea though, and despite the rulings made in “Measure of a Man” they still have trouble giving Data the credit he deserves as a life form. They want to take Lal away from him.
It is a great piece about what makes a parent, about what love is…about so many things.
I won’t give away the ending, but it is one tremendous piece of drama. It is one of the best emotional pieces in all of Trek.
