One of the good Prime Directive episodes. This one deals with Riker posing as an alien during one of the more difficult stages before first contact, studying the aliens first hand. Riker is under suspicion for being a spy, there are characters that want to progress, and who want to remain stagnant…it is a solid episode all around.
I would say it is one of the classic TNG episodes, lots of good ideas and execution, good character moments and plot. Definitely a top notch episode.
