Star Trek: The Next Generation - Season 4 Recap

Season Four is a solid season, as solid as Season Three had been; only it begins with a great resolution to the previous cliffhanger and ends with another fantastic cliffhanger.

There is plenty in this season that works tremendously well. From Season Three through Season Five the show has its most successful period. Those three seasons are more often than not well written and well executed from week to week, and really showcase how Star Trek had the ability to continue beyond the original cast successfully.

The season is notable for starting to expand the character of Miles O’Brien, who gets married, we learn about his time in the Federation-Cardassian War, and we get a taste of his married life. All of this would eventually go on to serve as a bit of backstory when he becomes a regular on DS9.

Season Four is a great season, it takes the steps made in Seasons Two and Three and really runs with it. This is the peak of quality in TNG.
