Story: The Vengeance Factor
Written By: Sam Rolfe
Series: Star Trek: The Next Generation
Year: 1989
The Enterprise tries to help in the reconciliation of two factions from the same planet. One which is calm and enlightened, the other who are pirate like. They are like if the band Kiss were space pirates. But one member of the enlightened group, a servant, is from an old clan that once feuded with the space pirates, and is attempting to kill off every last member of that clan.
It is just an average episode really, one that is easily forgotten when you think back on this series, but every now and then I rewatch it and think "hey this isn't too bad!" It's just one of the many things I love about TNG. There are episodes no one brings up in conversation, but if you watch it you've got a good story with good characters, and it works.
If I had a complaint, I would say it is that the focus on our main characters is flimsy. Riker gets the best story, but even what he has to work with is lame and unmemorable. Ultimately this is an average TNG episode, but one that is enjoyable enough.
