Story: Homefront
Written By: Ira Steven Behr and Robert Hewitt Wolfe
Series: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Year: 1995
A terrific episode. Changelings are on Earth, and Sisko, Jake and Odo are sent there to help with the situation. The episode is about the paranoia, about how far you the paranoia can take you. It introduces Ben’s dad, Joseph Sisko and his restaurant in New Orleans. There are some terrific scenes and great acting. I think it is one of the best set up episodes in a long, long time.
The end has Starfleet declaring martial law on Earth, something that has not been done in YEARS, not even during the Borg attack. But having people that could pretend to be your loved ones is scary enough to cause the fear required to scare Earth into making some wrong moves.
There is something scary about Earth having Starfleet troops being beamed into the streets.
