And how far they fall. It turns out that there is no real changeling threat on Earth…Admiral Leyton is behind it all, the power outages, the fear that the changelings are coming for an invasion…it is all for what he believes is the good of the Federation.
He even goes so far as to fool Federation members into thinking the whole crew of the Defiant is replaced by shapeshifters, so they will be destroyed and his plans won’t be revealed. He is willing to risk civil war in order to gain complete control of Earth…his fear is that strong.
It is an episode that is disliked by the production team, they ran out of money and couldn’t put in the budget they wanted. Art from adversity. I think they did a damn good job of making a strong conclusion to this two-parter, despite whatever limitations they had budget wise.
