Story: Unification II
Written By: Michael Piller
Series: Star Trek: The Next Generation
Year: 1991
We discover that Spock is not defecting against the Federation but trying to plant the seeds of re-unification between the Romulan and Vulcan people. The Romulan government would of course disapprove of this, which is why he was doing so in secret.
The episode is okay, but it has Spock, so why wouldn’t you enjoy it? It also sees the return and final appearance of Denise Crosby’s villainess Romulan character, Sela.
As much as I enjoyed this episode, the final shot of Spock mind melding with Picard…and Patrick Stewart has this weird grin…is really awkward and strange. Still...its Spock! Ont TNG! What fun!
NEXT TIME: Con Man
