Oh lord. Q returns to play matchmaker for Picard. BAD IDEA. He sends the crew into the tales of Robin Hood. BAD IDEA.
This is just a bad, bad, bad and bad episode. It is poorly written and conceived, and the only thing I found remotely enjoyable is Worf exclaiming “I must protest I am NOT A MERRY MAN!”. Beyond that it is just mind numbingly stupid.
The odd thing is a terrible episode like this and “Captain’s Holiday” were written by Ira Steven Behr…who would eventually go on to be the showrunner of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, a show that had some of the best writing in all of Trek. Oddly ironic.
NEXT TIME: Witch Hunt
