Story: The Defector
Written By: Ronald D. Moore
Series: Star Trek: The Next Generation
Year: 1990
I love the Romulans; they were so well portrayed from TOS, through many TNG appearances. I still feel kind of jaded that they didn’t get a proper film appearance.
This one involves a defector, but his motives are hard to trust. Romulans are known for their schemes and secrets and espionage nature. I think the episode is really well put together, and I think that comes from a weak first draft (apparently a good start and finish but a dull middle), and many writers who actually cared for the show working hard to fix it. I think the results are rather good.
Good story.
